Rehearsal Photography : Diana of Dobson's - New Vic Theatre

I popped by the New Vic Theatre today to photograph rehearsals for a new production of a 'lost' Edwardian play 'Diana of Dobson's' by Cicely Hamilton, directed by Abbey Wright. I spent an hour photographing a beautifully choreographed scene change and I can't wait to see some of the acting(!) when I photograph the dress rehearsal later in the month.

The Archers : Radio 4 - Behind The Scenes

In September 2014 I went behind the scenes of Radio 4's 'The Archers' for an editorial piece in the WI Life magazine. It was a fascinating experience to get a look at a live recording of radio's longest running serial drama - it was an even better experience to be able to photograph what was happening as an actual recording took place.

I’ve been photographing live performances for 9 years now and before that I worked in professional theatre for 20 years - first as an actor and then as a Company Stage Manager.

I like to think that experiences gives me a unique and relevant insight into photographing theatre. I understand the pressures that surround live performances and never want to be the one adding to that. Through years of experience I also understand what photographs companies need to sell a performance as well as what photographs will be useful for further marketing in the future.
